For someone who doesn’t wear a lot of jewellery I seem to have an ever-growing collection of rings. The problem is I’m starting to run out of places to store them. I decided to create some DIY ring holders to solve this problem. They also double as a safe places to store my rings while I’m washing my hands or in the shower.
What You’ll Need:
2. Sand paper
3. Acrylic Paint
4. Paint Brushes
2. Painter’s Tape (or washi tape)
Roll your clay between your hands and the table until you have a sausage shaped roll.
Angle your hand slightly so that the sausage become a cone as you roll the clay. There’s no right or wrong size. I have small fingers so my rings are quite small, therefor my cones can be skinnier then the average person’s. It all depends on personal preference and ring size.
Set your cone upright and allow it to harden for 24-48hrs.Step #4:
Once they have dried sand your cones to remove any rough edges or dents in the clay. This will make the paint look much smoother.Step #5: Paint or decorate your ring cones in whatever way you see fit. I painted some of mine half white and half another colour, while others I dotted with gold paint. My personal favourite are the black splatter cones. I painted them white then splattered black paint on them using a dry course paintbrush. I finished them off by circling the cone with painters tape then painting the bottom section black.
What do you guys think? It feels so good to be crafting again. I’m excited to say there will be plenty more DIY posts coming up in the next few months!
